1 tbsp Sesame Oil
100g Ground Pork (3.53 oz)
1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
1 tbsp Chopped Ginger
1/2 tbsp Doubanjiang – Chili Bean Paste
1 tbsp Tian Mian Jiang – Sweet Bean Sauce
1 tbsp Sake

– Chicken Stock –
1/2 tsp Granulated Chicken Stock (Chinese-style)
150 ml Hot Water (5.07 fl oz)

1 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Sake
1 block of Firm Tofu (350g/12.3 oz)
30g Garlic Chives (1.06 oz)

2 tsp Potato Starch
1⅓ tbsp Water

Sichuan Pepper
Steamed Rice with Millet

** Doubanjiang, Tian Mian Jiang and Sichuan Pepper are found in the Chinese food section of most major grocery stores.

Parmesan Potato Stacks Recipe

This easy recipe for Parmesan potato stacks makes a great side dish or appetizer that your family and guests will definitely enjoy. They are very flavorful due to the thyme, garlic and parmesan which I always love to pair when cooking potatoes. If you don’t like thyme feel free to use any other herbs you prefer like rosemary, oregano or basil.

Makes about 4-6 servings
3 tbsp (45g) butter, melted
2 tbsp (25g) Parmesan cheese
1 tsp (3g) garlic powder
1 tsp thyme leaves
salt and freshly ground black pepper
8-10 gold potatoes (1.4 kg) sliced thin (about 1/16 inch -1.6 mm thick)

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190C). Butter 12 muffin cups and set aside. Cut the potatoes into thin slices, preferably using a mandoline.

2. Place potato slices into a large bowl. Add melted butter, Parmesan cheese, thyme, garlic, salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

3. Layer the potato slices into stacks and place in the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle some freshly ground black pepper.

4. Bake until the edges and tops are golden brown and the centers are tender, 55 minutes to 1 hour.

5. Remove from the oven, let them rest for 5 minutes then remove from pan and garnish with parmesan cheese and thyme.

Paneer is widely used and very popular in punjab due to the abundance of milk and milk products in the area. This combination of spinach and paneer is not only highly nutritious, but is a splendid blend of taste, texture and flavour called Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer Recipe Ingredients :

350 gms Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese)
01 Litre Water
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Sugar
01 Kg Palak (Spinach)
03 tbl spoons Vegetable Oil
1/2 tsp Jeera (Cumit Seeds)
1/2 tbl spoon Garlic (Chopped)
02 Onions
02 Green Chillies
07 Tomatoes (Medium Size)
01 tsp Red Chilli Powder
01 tsp Coriander Powder
01 tsp Garam Masala
1 and 1/2 tsp Salt

Palak Paneer Cooking Instructions :

1) Add water to a pot and bring it to a boil by adding sugar and salt, then add Palak and cook for 5 minutes in an open pan.

2) for blanching Palak to retain it’s amazing green colors remove the palak from the hot cooking pot of water and add it to a bowl with ice cold water.

3) using a mixer/blender, blend the palak by adding it to the mixer and creating it into a fine paste.

4) to a pan add oil for cooking, and when the oil is hot enough while you cook at a medium flame, add jeera / cumin seeds followed by chopped garlic and saute`

5) Add the Onions and Green Chillies paste and saute` for 5 minutes in an open pan by adding 1/2 tsp of Salt.

6) Add tomato puree, followed by coriander powder and red chilli powder and cook by covering with a lid for 20 minutes by simmering at a low flame.

7) Add the Palak Paneer puree (spinach puree) to the pan and stir everything while adding 1 tsp garam masala and salt to taste, cook for around 5 minutes atleast.

8) finally add Paneer / Indian cottage cheese, and cover with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.

9) serve the Palak Paneer with roti’s , naan, chapati, or with rice.

Make this very tasty treat that your kids will surely love – Puto Flan. This Filipino dessert or merienda is made out of your favorite puto and leche flan combined into one.

Puto Flan Ingredients

For the Leche Flan or Custard:

1 can condensed milk
4 egg yolks

For The Puting Puto:

1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 large egg
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, melted

How To Make Puto Flan:

1. In a bowl, make the leche flan by combine the condensed milk and egg yolks. Whisk well.
2. Lightly brush some butter on each puto mold. Place 1/3 of the leche flan mixture in the puto molds.
3. Cover and steam the flan for 8 minutes in a steamer with boiling water.
4. In a bowl, sift flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well and then add the melted butter, evaporated milk, water, and egg. Mix well until smooth.
5. After 8 minutes, remove the flan from the steamer and then add the 3/4 of the puto mixture over it.
6. Cover and steam the puto flan for 10 minutes in a steamer with boiling water,
7. Allow Puto Flan to cool off before removing from the molds. Gently remove from molds.

Enjoy your snack or merienda.

Japanese cuisine is the food—ingredients, preparation and way of eating—of Japan. Over time, techniques and ingredients from the cuisines of other cultures were integrated into the cuisine of the Chinese peoples due both to imperial expansion and from the trade with nearby regions in pre-modern times as well as from Europe and the New World in the modern period.
Styles and tastes also varied by class, region, and ethnic background.
